What is Hatha Yoga
Working so hard, and still, the tiredness never quite lifts.
Stiffness in the shoulders and neck. Shallow sleep. Stress.
Has your body, and even your mind, stopped feeling like there's any room left?
Hatha Yoga is a practice passed down for thousands of years to restore the wellbeing we're meant to have — built for people living exactly this kind of modern life.
Yoga is often pictured as stretching, or an exercise to loosen the body.
But that's not what Hatha Yoga, in its true form, actually is.
It is a highly refined practice that carefully aligns body, breath, and mind, one at a time, to draw out the life force we already carry within us.
“Ha” is the sun. “Tha” is the moon.
Activity and rest, tension and ease, yin and yang — all already within us.
As these two energies come into balance, body and mind harmonize naturally, and we return to our own natural lightness.
With continued practice,
01
Posture aligns
02
Flexibility and strength increase
03
The autonomic nervous system and hormones find balance more easily
04
Internal organ function and metabolism activate
05
Sleep quality improves
06
Focus and clarity of thought sharpen
07
Stress has less power over you
08
You tire less, and each day fills with more vitality
This is the defining quality of Hatha Yoga: it works not only on the body, but on the mind, and on life energy itself.
The word yoga itself means “to unite.”
Body and mind coming into harmony. Finding your way back to a connection with yourself.
And living each day a little more at ease, a little more alive.
That is what Hatha Yoga, at its heart, is reaching for.
Body and mind aren't limits on a life — they're the instruments meant to enrich it.
Hatha Yoga is the lifelong practice of carefully tending those instruments, and drawing out the possibility already inside them.

At 21, after a period when her own body and mind fell seriously out of balance, Setsuko began a long search: what does real health actually mean, and how can a person draw out the fullest possibility of the life they carry?
That search took her to the United States, where she spent 13 years working as a jazz singer and composer. Through music, meeting countless people along the way, a different question grew louder — not just for the body, but for something that could enrich a person's whole life. In 2024, that question led her to the Isha Yoga Center in South India, founded by the world-renowned yogi Sadhguru.
She lived at the ashram for roughly a year and a half, practicing yoga and meditation daily, and completed the Hatha Yoga teacher training course — widely regarded as one of the most rigorous yoga teacher certifications in the world. After more than 1,750 hours of dedicated training, she earned certification as a Sadhguru Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher.
Today, as one of only four Sadhguru Certified Hatha Yoga teachers in Japan, she teaches the traditional Hatha Yoga carried down from its origins in India, based primarily in Osaka and Tokyo.
My own life changed enormously through yoga.
There was a time when stress and physical imbalance would take hold of me easily. But through the continued practice of Hatha Yoga, I found I could stay calm no matter the circumstance, and I was no longer thrown so easily by whatever was happening around me.
As my life energy rose, I became remarkably resistant to fatigue. Waking up in the morning became something to look forward to, and I began to feel genuine joy simply in living each day.
Things I once believed I “couldn't do” became things I could naturally attempt — and I felt my own sense of what was possible expand.
I don't believe this change came from any special talent. I believe it came from continuing a genuine Hatha Yoga practice, which brought body, mind, and life energy into alignment, and let me return to who I really am.
That is why I want to bring this remarkable tradition to as many people as possible — spreading authentic Hatha Yoga across Japan, so that each person can become healthy in body and mind, and shine as fully themselves.
